Xero Beginners Certificate Training Course
The skills you’ll learn in the Xero Beginner Essentials course will give you the confidence to work in the accounts department of a small to medium sized business performing Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable and other daily tasks like creating quotes, invoices, receiving payments, creating purchase orders and making payments, coding expenses and running reports.
You’ll understand the chart of accounts and basic bookkeeping terminology and apply your knowledge to practical case study scenarios that also include end of month transactions and journal entries to reconcile the bank account and make it balance.

Xero Advanced Certificate Training Course
The Xero Advanced Certificate Training Course takes you into GST, partial GST and BAS reconciliations, Payroll Administration (from setting up employees, performing pay runs, Single Touch Payroll and and producing end of financial year reports and everything in between), budgets and forecasts (and running cashflow reports), plus managing the income and expenses for projects (ideal for builders and tradies who work on multiple projects).
You’ll perform 6 months of transactions using data entry and importing transactions and clean up the books for a messy start-up entrepreneur who gets involved in several different businesses. You get to understand about asset purchases and depreciation and provide information that helps him make better business decisions.
These skills will enable you to speak confidently with employers and perform the tasks as an employee or as a contract bookkeeper (under the supervision of a Registered BAS agent or the company accountant).

1 How long will it take me to complete the course?
The fastest a student has gone through the full 6 Xero courses is 5 days (including all knowledge reviews).
The average time to complete a the Xero courses is 2-3 weeks and some people take several months or simply use the course as a resource during their membership period. If the training content in our online Xero training course was delivered in a face to face classroom environment it would take approximately 6 days.

2 Can I go over the training materials more than once?
Yes. The course videos can be watched over and over again as often as you want. The workbooks are available as a downloaded pdf file so you can print it and go over it as often as you want. The more you access and use the materials the faster you will complete the course.

3 Are their any prerequisites
It is expected that you have a PC with Internet access and that you are confident using a mouse, downloading, launching programs and navigating around your computer (Windows OR Mac). Although you’ll get through the course faster if you have an understanding of basic accounting / bookkeeping terminology the course includes training videos to teach you these things.

4 When can I start?
After you have completed the online enrolment form and made your payment you will receive an enrolment confirmation email confirming your enrolment and providing you with passwords to access your course. This will arrive by 5pm the next business day but often arrives the same day.

5 How long can I access the Xero courses?
You have 12 months to complete the course and knowledge reviews and go over the training materials as often as you need or want for 12 months.

6 Do I get a certificate?
ALL Xero training courses now include a Certificate. You will receive a certificate from the Bookkeeping Academy after you have successfully completed the online assessment questions and complete a course evaluation.
To be Certified in Xero (and MYOB & QuickBooks) is a way of demonstrating good broad skills and a willingness to invest in your own education.

7 How does assessment work?
The assessment questions are located at the end of each section or at the end of each course and comprise a series of questions which may include YES/NO, multiple choice, multiple answer or matching questions. When you submit your answers (you get 3 attempts) your answers are recorded in your student profile.
When you have completed them you let us know and an assessor will confirm that you passed each test and provide you with a certificate. All knowledge reviews must be completed within 12 months of enrolling. If you did not enrol for the certificate option but would like to take advantage of it you can complete all knowledge reviews and pay for your certificate at the time of your Xero course completion.

8 How do I get my certificate?
Your certificate is sent to you as a full colour PDF attachment via the student support area.

9 What type of certificate do I receive?
The default certificate is an EzyLearn certificate of completion that confirms you have accessed the course and successfully completed the assessment knowledge reviews. It contains a logo of the Bookkeeping Academy so you can put it in your resume to display the fact that you are a committed learner and part of an organisation devoted to continuing education.
The COMPLETE Xero course package includes advanced course topics so you receive an Xero Advanced Certificate upon completion.

10 Can I get a nationally recognised certificate?
The EzyLearn training material provides training on many aspects that are relevant to bookkeeping and Ezylearn is aligning its training materials with nationally recognised qualifications. The certificate you receive is an EzyLearn Certificate of Completion.
To get a nationally recognised certificate you need to enrol into a bookkeeping course with a registered training organisation (RTO) – EzyLearn is not an RTO.
If you do need a Nationally Accredited Course and Certificate make contact with us and we can introduce you to our RTO partner. If you need to enrol with an RTO to be eligible for funding our short courses are available through some Registered Training Organisations.

11 What if I have a problem using the online course
EzyLearn support uses a Central Support system to keep track of support queries from students. This enables ALL our support team members to help you and escalate to a specialist tutor if required.
The method of support you use will vary depending on your level of experience and prior knowledge. Advanced support relates to practical tasks where you need to balance the figures while beginner support relates to sign navigation and usage.

13 What’s included in the course?
This link on the website shows a list of each of the Xero courses. Choose which course you’d like to explore further and a full list of course topics is listed. We use several training tools to help students learn and you are free to use them as you please. These include:
Video Tutorials- Training Workbooks (with practical tasks)
- Case Studies
- Knowledge reviews
Student support options include EzyLearn ANSWERS – the opportunity to pose a question to the course creator of a scenario that may not be covered in the course material.
We create our own training workbooks with practical exercises and they are available as a PDF download within the course. You can keep these forever and go over them if you need to refresh your skills.

14 Do I need the software?
You don’t need the software to watch the videos and test your skill level will the knowledge reviews but we ALWAYS recommend accessing the free version to perform the practical tasks in the training workbooks.
There is a link within the learning site to how to access and use the free version of the software. These versions can be used many times for the various different case studies if required.

We have offered Xero courses since 2012 and when Xero change their navigation or features we update those sections of the Xero courses.
When there is a significant change in the content or navigation around the software we usually announce this via our blog and as a student you receive access to this new content for NO EXTRA Cost during your membership or course access period.

25 Do you have courses for other accounting software?
Yes, we do.
Our Xero Training Courses take students logically through the entire bookkeeping process for a small business. We adapt these case studies to suit other accounting software programs, including MYOB AccountRight, MYOB Essentials and QuickBooks Online.
If you are applying for accounting or office admin jobs you will find that some ask for Xero knowledge while others ask for MYOB or QuickBooks. If you are a contract bookkeeper, running your own bookkeeping business you’ll come across the same situation. Because of the demand we have combined our MYOB, Xero and QuickBooks Courses to suit your goals.

26 Can you help me start a business?
Yes. In 2012 we became the online training platform for the Small Business Management Course from the Australian Small Business Centre. This course goes through all the areas required to create a business plan which becomes a blue print of how to run a business – any business. We then had our own team go through this course and complete it based on the following business types: Virtual Assistant and Bookkeeping Business.

27 Can I earn CPD (CPE) points with your Xero courses?
Yes. If you are a certified bookkeeper with the Institute of Certified Bookkeepers (ICB) you can earn 1 point for every hour of education. All 3 Xero courses can be completed in a normal classroom environment in 3 days which equates to 24 hours or 24 points. You will need to enrol into the Certificate option to provide evidence of completion.

28 Do you offer interest free student loan finance for Xero Training Course enrolments?
Instead of offering interest free finance and student loans we prefer to offer courses which include a lot of content from beginners to advanced skills included and a long time to complete the course if you need it. Whether interest free students loans are promoted as free or cheap they are designed as a sales and marketing tool to make course appear more attractive. Course loan systems need to be established to manage student loan repayments and many students already have a credit card or other loan facility that they can use to pay for Xero training courses – the most popular of course is a credit card – so we’d prefer to focus on cheap training courses and special offers on Xero Training Courses that make them even more attractive.

29 What is the cheapest way to learn Xero?
Several different training resources are created to help students learn how to use any software program and they include
- training video tutorials,
- exercise files or case studies to practice with,
- training manuals and workbooks with written instructions on what to do when you’re practising,
- knowledge review test to test that you’ve learnt what is covered in the courses and also confirm that you are competent.
Once you’re competent you can then receive a certificate.
The most time and effort goes into creating the written workbook and case studies but once the training story has been created it is pretty quick and easy to record the video tutorials. The cheapest way to learn is to become a member of the EzyLearn Video Library.

YES.
Our Xero training courses are built by professional educators and in consultation with small businesses, industry practitioners, BAS Agents and Accountants.
When we design a training course we take the transactions which are common, complex or just a pain in the backside to code and put them into the training flow. Once we select all the different types of transactions that relate to each course topic we build the course out and get you to perform the transactions a couple times so you remember it. NO WAY! Our online Xero Accounting training courses are not restricted.
Some training companies make you follow their course strictly, only allowing you to access one part when you’ve finished the previous stage. We’ve never liked this approach.
We believe short courses are about getting in and learning what you want, when you want it.
Although you can complete the Xero Complete Training Course Package within 2-3 weeks we provide 12 months access so students can use it as a resource after they’ve completed it.
Example: Some students learn about Payroll Administration using Xero because they need to solve an urgent problem and then progress through in a more logical order from beginners to advanced topics.
Some students looking for a job will get through the daily transactions course to understand and be confident with the basics so they do well in phone and personal interviews and then go through the rest of the courses to be fully skilled.

36 Is Xero easy to learn?
Some students prefer Xero to MYOB because they say it is easier to use. If you have experience in accounting tasks you can sign up for the free Xero trial and “have a play” with the software yourself to get an understand about how to navigate and use it. However, students do an online Xero training course to have a learning flow of practical tasks and exercises, particularly if they want to upskill to use more advanced Xero skills.
A Xero Beginners or Advanced Certificate also looks good on a resume when applying for accounts jobs.

37 Can you learn Xero yourself?
You can learn Xero in your own time, at your own pace and get support when you need it with our online Xero Training Courses. Unlike learning how to use Xero in a classroom (group) environment you don’t need to race ahead because the teacher wants to keep up with an advanced user. You also don’t need to wait while the teacher sits patiently with someone who is new to accounting!
