Bookkeeping Software Training Course Combo Offer
Most bookkeepers need to be aware of several different software programs in the constantly changing world of online/cloud accounting software.
Where MYOB was once almost ubiquitous, clever cloud competitors like Xero are aggressively adding new customers (both small businesses and accountants) and old competitors like Quickbooks, now offered directly by the massive US software company who has always created the Quickbooks software, Intuit.
Since the 1990’s we’ve provided training on MYOB when the software company was called Data Tech and they were located in St Leonards (Sydney) and we’ve provided training to help thousands of people:
- get a job,
- develop in their career,
- start a business or
- develop their business
We also help them with their office administration using Microsoft Office and their Digital Marketing.
This combination offer is designed to help bookkeepers with the software skills they need to look after their clients.
Bookkeeping Training Courses
MYOB is now owned by a US private equity company (Bain Capital) and is still considered to be the market leader in Australia. Their software (even cloud-based versions) are a combination of desktop software program and cloud-based storage.
MYOB AccountRight Plus Training Courses
For a long time (since we started delivering MYOB Training in the late 1990’s) MYOB have had different versions that made it attractive for businesses of all sizes and needs.
The Desktop/Cloud Hybrid we use in our courses is MYOB AccountRight Plus because the basic functionality is the same as MYOB AccountRight but the Plus version helps businesses manage their Payroll. After a slow start in the cloud (online Accounting) MYOB now has a dedicated online accounting program called MYOB Essentials.
MYOB Business (Essentials) Training Courses
MYOB Essentials has gone through a lot of changes to become a viable online cloud accounting system for micro businesses as well as those with a small number of staff on their payroll.
Once seen as a very basic competitor to Xero MYOB Essentials is now becoming more popular. Although obvious to experienced Bookkeepers many end users and small businesses don’t understand that MYOB Essentials is a completely different accounting software program.

Xero Cloud Accounting
Xero is a public company with shares listed on both the New Zealand (where they are based) and Australia and one of their major shareholders is the former owner of MYOB. They are internationally focused and provide solutions to both accountants and international customers (including the US). Their software is purely cloud-based and they are growing their Add-on system to provide more sophisticated functionality.
Xero Accounting Software is popular with newer businesses and those who want to change to a cloud-based solution so they can easily use the software via a smartphone or tablet from anywhere.

Intuit Quickbooks
When it was a computer-based software program, Quickbooks was distributed in Australia by Reckon and published by the market leader for accounting software in the US – Intuit. This massive US company has now terminated their previous agreements with Reckon and just like Xero they are approaching Australian businesses directly with a software product that is very good and powerful and building on their strong Add-on market place.
Intuit is a very strong company financially and have significant resources to compete in the online cloud accounting market and now that they are free of their distribution shackles with Reckon they are marketing their full solution at a very attractive price to lure small businesses in Australia.
